Kitchen Counter Stools and Barstool Hunting

Finding counter stools and barstools for your kitchen island or bar is like finding the best jewelry for your outfit. You want to make sure the fit is right, and you want them to be extremely comfortable as you will be sitting in them quite often.  Aim for a height of 24-26 inches for a counter height stool and 28-30 inches for a bar height stool. Measure the width of the space so when you find the stools you love, you can easily determine how many stools will comfortable fit. If you choose swivel stools, leave more space in between stools to swing around.  Be sure your counter stools aren’t too heavy to move around and likewise too light that they fall over. For comfort, you might also want to consider stools that have a built-in foot rest.

Your counter stools selection can give your space true wow factor. There are so many styles from industrial to soft fabric. Here are some counter stools and bar stools to give you some ideas.

Counter Stools With No Back.

These stools are ideal when you want to slide them under your countertop or kitchen island and tuck them away. It is a very neat, clean look. If you’re looking for easy-care or have kids that might spill food on the stools, have a look at leather, wood, metal stools. Fabric stools will soften the space, but be sure the material choice is something you can clean in case of emergency.

Counter Stools With a Back.

If you are going to be sitting at the counter for extended periods of time, you might want to consider stools with a back support. Note that with swivel versions of stools with a back, they can hit the counter edge and make dents and/or damage the back of the stool when swiveling.
