Sausage Stuffing Recipe

Ingredients List

1 package of store-bought cubed herbed or plain stuffing
1 red apple diced
1 box of raisins
1 stick of unsalted butter
1 large yellow onion, diced
3 celery stalks, diced
4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 lb Italian sausage
1 cup of mushrooms
2 cups of chicken broth 
1 teaspoon fresh chopped rosemary
1 teaspoon fresh chopped sage
1 tablespoon parsley
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions

1 Preheat the oven to 350°F and Grease two square baking dishes (or one 9×13 casserole). In a separate large mixing bowl, place stuffing cubes, diced apple, and raisins and give it a toss.

2 Heat a large large skillet on medium heat. Saute butter, onion, and celery until vegetables are clear and soft. Add garlic, sausage, mushrooms, and saute breaking up sausage until it is cooked through.

3 Pour sausage mixture from the skillet into the large mixing bowl with stuffing. Then add chicken broth, rosemary, sage, parsley, salt and pepper and mix until bread cubes are softened. Add more broth if needed. 

4 Transfer the stuffing to the greased baking dish and bake at 350 for about 30-45 minutes until golden brown on top.
