Mandarin Oriental Vegas Penthouses Outfitted with SubZero Wolf & Poggenpohl

News & Trends

During KBIS 2014, our BlogTour Vegas team and select VIPs had the first look at new product launches from SubZero and Wolf at the new Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas Luxury Residential Penthouses. We had a private viewing of three $2 – $6 million dollar penthouse suites with stunning views of the city and kitchens outfitted in sleek European cabinetry from Poggenpohl. It was during this tour that I had the best chocolate martini of my life. I never experienced such a thing; it was memorable!

Thank you to our sponsors Poggenpohl and SubZero Wolf for a “magical” evening that included a terrific interactive hands-on dinner demonstration and a magician that killed it. He also bent the winning quarter I was about to use in the slot machine…arrrghhh! Our Blog Tour Vegas group thoroughly enjoyed our evening of cocktails, wine pairings, and delicious hors d’oeuvres.

So what’s new? Let’s have a look at what was in these penthouses:

Wolf’s New Line of Gas Cooktops and new Built-in Coffeemaker: Wolf Appliance Inc introduced an all-new line of gas cooktops as part of the New Generation product launch, the largest product rollout in company history. The gas cooktops have Wolf’s patented powerful dual-stacked sealed burners with two-tier flame ports that provide  precise control and accurate heat output for more consistent meals. The gas cooktops are designed to seamlessly integrate into any kitchen and are available in a variety of styles and sizes.  The upper-tier ports are positioned closer to the cookware for more efficient heat transfer yielding a fast boil or high sear, while the lower flame ports are farther from the pan and can produce subtle heat, which is ideal for gentle simmers without scorching.

All Wolf gas cooktops now offer burners capable of up to 18,000 Btu, which is 3,000 Btu more than previous models and a wider range of heat than possible in previous cooktops. This reduces boiling time by 25 percent. These burners melt chocolate and maintain delicate sauces for hours without scorching. The setting stays low without cycling on and off. The burners are sealed, which keeps liquid from seeping into hard-to-clean places so you don’t have to worry about spills. There are three unique styles – ultra-sleek contemporary, classic transitional, and bold professional. These options offer designers and homeowners a myriad of design options ranging from 15″ to 36″ in width. Clients can pair their Wolf gas cooktop with other Wolf products, like the new built-in ovens, convection steam oven, integrated modules and the family of ventilation products. For clients that like a more modern look, the contemporary style integrates directly into cabinetry, and is installed flush with countertops making it ideal for modern spaces. The built-in gourmet coffee system is new and makes perfectly-brewed coffee and espresso from whole coffee beans. You can get this unit in stainless steel or with black trim and it looks especially fabulous with the Wolf convection steam oven. The combination of convection with steam is life changing. I love my Wolf steam oven!

Handleless lacquer cabinetry: The modern kitchens were minimal in style and outfitted in cabinetry from Poggenpohl, a company that offers over 70 cabinet fronts in a variety of finishes, such as: wood veneers, laminates, lacquers, acrylics, glass, metals and custom RAL colors. The company manufactures custom-made cabinetry in its factory in Herford, Germany. The product line is available globally in 70 countries. The pull-outs come with indirect LED lighting that is automatically activated when the pull-out is opened. Functional accessories, such as spice shakers and porcelain or aluminum jars allow for flawless organization and complement the light-maple or walnut wood inserts. The kitchens created a perfect visual and functional link between cooking and living areas.

Luxury spa bathrooms: You all know how much I love my bathroom. I always feel great after spending time relaxing in there. The bathrooms at the Mandarin Oriental residences were nothing short of the mark. The shower was clad in incredible stone with water jets that allow a multitude of shower experiences.  I got so excited I turned the jets on just to imagine what it might feel like.
