SARA CEDAR MILLER

SARA CEDAR MILLER, historian and photographer for the Central Park Conservancy, will narrate with an illustrated presentation, the miraculous 31-year transformation of Central Park by the Central Park Conservancy. She will focus, in particular, on the Park as an outdoor museum of Victorian architecture and the decorative arts, and a model of historic preservation.
SARA CEDAR MILLER has been the photographer for the Central Park Conservancy since 1984, the historian since 1989, and Associate Vice President for Park Information since 2007. Her photographs of Central Park have been published in books and periodicals around the world, and are for sale to benefit the work of the Conservancy.
She appears on radio and television as a Park spokesperson, conducts specialized tours and lectures. She received a M.A. in art history from Hunter College in 1973 and a M.F.A. in photography from Pratt Institute in 1983. Her book Central Park, An American Masterpiece (Harry N. Abrams, Inc., 2003) has received critical acclaim around the world. Her book, Seeing Central Park: The Official Guide to the World’s Greatest Urban Park, was published in May 2009. Her most recent book Strawberry Fields: Central Park’s Memorial to John Lennon was published in May 2011.
