A technology breakthrough from Coravin™ allows you to drink your fine wine by the glass for several weeks or even months without removing the cork or disturbing the wine’s natural aging process. Coravin allows you to explore your wine collection by the glass, and its inspiration began when founder Greg Lambrecht’s wife stopped drinking during her pregnancy. Greg wanted to enjoy great a great glass of wine, but he didn’t want the pressure to have to drink the whole bottle. What he came up with is quite remarkable. Here’s how this wine technology works…
1) A thin, hollow needle pierces the cork to extract the wine. There is no need to remove the foil or the cork to access your wine.
2) The bottle is then pressurized with argon, an inert gas that’s in the air we breathe. The pressure pushes the wine through the needle so that it flows into your glass without letting any oxygen in the bottle.
3) When the Coravin System and its needle are removed, the cork will naturally reseal itself. The remaining wine never comes in contact with oxygen and continues to evolve naturally.
This is really going to give new meaning to fine wine with dinner!
