This Kitchen Design Was Featured on The Cover of House Magazine
This modern kitchen is visual proof that contemporary design does not have to feel cold. It exemplifies the creative use of dark and bold colors combined with stainless steel, natural materials, and dramatic lighting.
We added many interesting design elements to this modern kitchen design. The contrasting finishes of the base and wall cabinets are striking. The dark “Bistro on Cherry” finish adds mystery and an essence of privacy while the lighter “Champagne on Rift Oak” upper cabinets add vitality and life. The cabinetry is Wood-Mode’s Vanguard Plus door style.

Our clients wanted something modern, yet warm, for their beautiful Port Washington home (Long Island, New York). They requested a bit of color but did not want a “wood-kitchen” look. An interesting feature of this design is that the toe-kick has been eliminated from the island cabinets giving it a floating feeling. The tumbled marble backsplash was installed vertically to create a dramatic accent for the beautiful Viking professional stove. Below the microwave is a hidden warming drawer integrated into the sleek cabinetry (see video), and the sink base cabinet was designed to look like two drawer heads.
As the perfect accent, a Ceasarstone Quartz countertop in Lagos Blue provides visual perfection that makes this kitchen feel like a decadent luxury. By incorporating the eat-in dining area with the media room, the kitchen offers a unique lifestyle space for this couple to enjoy.
