ADA Kitchen with Wheelchair Accessibility – Universal Design

We customized this ADA kitchen with wheelchair accessibility so our client can comfortably navigate his great room in a wheelchair.  The newly remodeled space removes all obstacles for our client by providing access to sinks, cabinets, counters, and appliances allowing enough turning room for a fluid transition to adjoining areas, which includes the media room, dining area, and entertaining beverage bar.  The designer lowered the countertops making it easier to reach the cooktop and wheel up to the island. The cooking area has ample knee space so our client can pull his wheelchair under the cooktop. The recessed sink workstation offers easy access and is shallow in order to allow better legroom and arm reach.  Two high-tech wall cabinets are motorized so they can be raised and lowered to countertop height, so the client can easily reach into the cabinets.  Kitchen Designs can remodel your space with great options for accessible living, so your kitchen is maximized for independence, convenience, and functionality. Read more details here.

Cabinetry Used:  The custom cabinetry is Brookhaven by Wood-Mode in a textured laminate with brushed stainless handles.
