If you haven’t seen the work of furniture designer (Bart Niswonger), you’re in for a real treat (visit his website at  bartniswonger.com). In his own words, “I enjoy creating objects that invite strong reactions, forcing people to confront their expectations of what furniture should be. Strong colors and unusual textures are exciting, particularly when incorporated into unexpectedly traditional forms.” His work was recently featured in the Architectural Digest Home Show.

His Hole-y Stool has a high gloss finish and is 14 x 18 x 22 inches. Dishes cut from both sides make windows and cast shadows on the interior. The top is relieved to create a seat which supports your spine; that relief is continued down the legs. It is made from a single board, the grain runs up and over continuously.

Renews my love of swiss cheese!
