So happy to announce that Ken Kelly won an NKBA Design Competition award for “French Elegance” — a luxurious master bath design. From among hundreds of entries received, the judges selected the best designs in the nation for the NKBA Design Competition.

Ken stood out in his creation of “French Elegance” – a spa-style master bath. Design winners are judged on beauty and functionality, while applying insight, advanced technical skill, comprehensive knowledge of the latest products, and contributions to a higher quality of living.

Inspired by the serenity of George V Hotel’s spa in Paris and wanting to recreate that romantic sense of luxury into daily life, Ken created this master bedroom bath with spa-style amenities for a French Normandy home. The stunning result rests on a foundation of Turkish marble and furniture-style cabinets that are a replication of French country cabinetry prevalent in the south of France during the 18th century. Three door styles were combined to create this exquisite design. A stunning wall of candle niches offers pockets of glowing light against a backdrop of Oasis Blue and Blue Lagos marble. The entire wall is operated off a remote control. A night light switch turns on a 1/8-inch high blue LED tape light under the overhang of the tub deck.

The therapeutic benefits of chromotherapy have been incorporated through lighting in the tub and shower areas. The inviting shower with a clear, frameless glass door and operating transom offers a 16-inch rain head, champagne showerhead, handheld shower, 10 body jets, a pulsating waterfall, steam, and chromotherapy lighting. It’s crazy but this unit offers 144 different ways to shower. A built-in bench, four shampoo cubbies, two grab bars, and piped-in music complete the setting for this ultimate private retreat.
