A Ken Kelly Kitchen that Flows From Indoors to Outdoors
Nestled in beautiful Lloyd Neck (just north of Huntington Village in Long Island), we created a kitchen that gracefully flows from indoors to outdoors. The homeowners were looking for something out of the ordinary in their kitchen design. They wanted to change the look of their existing kitchen layout. Due to the fact they frequently entertain and often have more than one cook in the kitchen, they wanted a grand-scale greatroom. One that would transition beautifully through an adjoining seating area out to their new outdoor kitchen. We added a back to back fireplace that further enhances the outdoor experience.
Design Process
After interviewing several designers, the couple found a perfect fit in the trained eye of Ken Kelly, CKD, CBD, CR of Kitchen Designs by Ken Kelly. We immediately saw the possibilities for their reimagined space. Although the space planning was complicated based on the old design, Ken added French doors to the adjoining dining room and made a few other changes to improve traffic flow. He also added a walk-in pantry, telephone message center, and cabinetry in the laundry room and mudroom.
The warm and inviting design is both beautiful and functional and features traditional style furniture-grade Brookhaven by Wood-Mode cabinetry. Enhanced by a host of modern appliances and materials including a 48” Wolf range and microwave drawer, Sub-Zero refrigeration, Miele dishwashers, a True wine cooler, two Blanco sinks, Rohl faucets, and a Wolf barbecue. The unique countertops are polished Cosmic Black, and the floor is a durable ceramic tile that looks like wood.
Final Result
The resulting kitchen design emotes tranquility and calmness. It Incorporates spectacular views of the property’s natural landscape and specimen trees. Cooking is much more sociable and allows everyone an opportunity to mingle and participate.
